Privacy Policy for Gospel
Effective date: 28 October 2026
This policy explains what Gospel does with information about you. It applies to the Gospel mobile game on iOS and Android, published by Good Company Games (“we”, “us”).
Gospel is intended for a general audience, which includes children. Because of that we treat everyone as a child unless they tell us otherwise, and we ask for a year of birth before anything else happens. That answer never leaves your device.
What the game itself collects
Nothing that identifies you.
Gospel has no sign-in, no name or email field, no leaderboards and no chat. It stores the following on the device, using the operating system’s own app storage:
- which levels you have finished, and how quickly
- your hint balance and when it last refilled
- whether you have completed today’s daily puzzle
- the year of birth you entered on first launch
- a note of whether you have bought anything
- whether you switched on the daily reminder and at what time, and when you started your last few daily puzzles — used only to suggest a time for the reminder
Uninstalling the game removes all of it from the device.
A copy of your level times is kept online, so that your progress is not lost if the game’s stored data is cleared. That copy contains level numbers and how many seconds each took, and nothing else — no name, no email, no address book, nothing you have typed. It is stored against an anonymous identifier created for the installation, which we cannot connect to you, to any other app, or to advertising.
Because that identifier belongs to the installation rather than to you, uninstalling the game ends it. A fresh install is a new anonymous identifier and starts from the beginning; it cannot reach the earlier progress, and neither can we.
We measure how the game is played, but only for players aged 16 or over who have not turned it off. See below.
What advertising collects
Gospel shows advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. Google’s advertising software runs inside the app and collects information for that purpose, including:
- device advertising identifiers, and general device information such as model and operating system version
- your IP address, from which an approximate (city-level) location can be derived
- whether an advertisement was shown, viewed or tapped
If the year of birth entered on first launch indicates a child, or no answer is available, Gospel instructs Google to serve only non-personalised advertisements and to restrict content to its most general rating. Non-personalised advertisements still use coarse location and information about the app itself in order to be shown at all, but they are not selected using a profile of the person watching.
Google’s own handling of this information is described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and https://business.safety.google/privacy/.
If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, you will be asked for advertising consent the first time the game runs, before any advertisement is requested. You can change that answer at any time from the Settings screen.
What usage measurement collects
To find out which puzzles are too hard and whether the advertising gets in the way, the game records events such as “level 12 started”, “level 12 finished in 96 seconds with one hint” and “an advertisement was shown”. These carry level numbers, durations and counts. They carry nothing you have typed and nothing that identifies you.
This is switched off entirely for anyone under 16, and for anyone whose age we do not know. It can also be switched off by an adult at any time from the Settings screen, and doing so asks for everything already collected to be deleted, not merely for collection to stop.
What buying something involves
Purchases are handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play. We never see your card details, billing address or payment information; the stores tell the game only that a purchase succeeded, so it can unlock what you paid for. The stores’ own privacy policies apply to that transaction.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or share personal information, in the sense the California Consumer Privacy Act gives those words.
- We do not use your information to build a profile of you.
- We do not send you email or marketing. The only notification the game sends is the daily reminder, and only if you ask for it. It is scheduled on your device by the device itself: nothing about it is sent to us or to anyone else, and we have no way to send you one.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is described above.
Your choices
- Reset your advertising identifier, or turn off personalised advertising entirely, in your device settings — iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads.
- Remove advertising with the one-off in-app purchase. After that no advertisement is requested and the advertising software makes no further requests.
- Change your advertising consent from the game’s Settings screen, if you are in a region where consent is required.
- Turn the daily reminder off from the game’s Settings screen, or in your device’s own notification settings. It is never offered to anyone the game treats as a child.
- Delete everything by uninstalling the game.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to its use. Because Gospel holds nothing about you on our side, most such requests are best directed to Google, whose links are above. You are welcome to write to us at goodcompanygamesco@gmail.com and we will help where we can.
If you are in the UK or EEA, the legal bases we rely on are your consent (for personalised advertising) and legitimate interests (for showing non-personalised advertising, without which the game could not be free).
Children
Gospel is not directed exclusively at children, but we expect children to play it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child for any purpose other than showing a non-personalised advertisement, as described above. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, write to goodcompanygamesco@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at https://goodcompanygames.co/privacy/ and the effective date above will change. Material changes will be announced in the game.
